If you're looking at getting a head start on the next batch of Lighthouse Cove goals in FarmVille, then we've put together a guide on what you'll need to complete once this newest trio of goals launches in the game. According to FarmVille Freak, these three goals are Halloween in theme, and will reward you with some fun items to match. Let's get started.
A Spooky Season!
Get 3 Halloween Masks
Harvest Lighthouse Cove
Harvest 100 Hay
Hay takes a full day to harvest, so if you've got empty plots on your Lighthouse Cove farm, or are about to harvest something, I'd suggest going ahead and planting that Hay. That way, when these goals launch in your game, you'll have Hay ready to harvest automatically, saving you time. Finishing this first goal will likely be time consuming, depending on how far (or not) you've expanded your Lighthouse Cove farm, but once you finish it you'll receive 100XP, 2,500 coins and a Trick or Treat Bear.
Ghost of a Chance
Get 3 Lollipops
Harvest 110 Red Clover
Harvest 1 Orchard
Again, Red Clover has a 24 hour growth time, so while you can't necessarily plan for both of these crops ahead of time (due the plot limitation in Lighthouse Cove), you can always plant them right after you finish the Hay requirement, if you've yet to finish the first goal overall. Also, if you have an Orchard that you're growing, make sure to not harvest it again until you get to this goal. Sure, you could harvest it right now, but what if you pass the first goal so quickly that you're then left waiting one or two days for the Orchard to become ready again? You need all of the time you can get in these goals, so feel free to follow our advice. When you finish this goal, you'll receive 200XP, 2,500 coins and an Innkeeper Gnome.
Ghost Hunting
Get 6 Flashlights
Make Farmhouse Cheddar Twice
Harvest 110 Tarragon
Regardless of how far you've leveled up Farmhouse Cheddar in your restaurant, you'll need to craft it at least twice more for this goal. That requires two Red Clover, one Hay and two Tarragon bushels each. Meanwhile, Tarragon itself takes 10 hours to grow. For finishing this third goal, you're given 300XP a Shipwreck decoration and another 2,500 coins.
With these goals, there's no question that things are getting harder in Lighthouse Cove - perhaps even too hard. While one could speculate that these high crop requirements mean that more coin options for expansions will also be coming, I wouldn't be shocked if it turns out not to be the case. We'll make sure to let you know when and if these goals become easier, so keep checking back.
Check out the rest of our Halloween 2011 coverage right here.
Do you appreciate the increase in challenge seen in the Lighthouse Cove goals since launch? Have you ever completed a full series of six goals on your third farm, or has there always been something you're unwilling to purchase or simply don't have time to complete?

FarmVille Halloween Items: Black Mini Unicorn, Haunted Farm House and more
In tonight's FarmVille update, we see the launch of quite a few items (some re-releases) in the game's marketplace in the current Halloween limited edition item theme. We'll point out which of these items are brand new, and which are being re-released in the game from previous years / themes, but either way, the safest bet with these items is to check your storage for any of them. When Farm Cash is in the equation, you won't want to needlessly waste it on duplicates! Here's a complete look at what's available.
Trees
Halloween Tree - 8 Farm Cash
Big Halloween Tree - 14 Farm Cash
With this pair, we have rather sickly looking dark trees that happen to look pretty cool when they're ready to harvest, as they grow ghosts and pumpkin candy pails on their branches. As usual, you don't need to purchase the "Big" version as you'll have multiple methods to earn one for free. Either purchase the normal sized tree and place it in an Orchard to receive a Mystery Seedling, claim Mystery Seedlings from friends, or even claim fully-grown trees on your friends' walls.
Animals
Black Mini Unicorn - 30 Farm Cash
Pilot Pig - 18 Farm Cash
Count Duckula - 14 Farm Cash
Kermode Bear - 1.5 million coins
Here, the Pilot Pig is a re-released animal, first being released in Halloween of 2010. Count Duckula, regardless of his current focus in the game's collection event, is also a re-released animal, while the Kermode Bear doesn't really have anything specific to do with Halloween, but is labeled as such. As another note, the Kermode Bear will be available for just one week in the store, while these other items have a two-week time limit.
Buildings
Haunted Market - 30 Farm Cash
Haunted Farm House - 20 Farm Cash
If you're like me, you might have more Halloween buildings on your farm than you can really hold, and yet here come two more to add to the theme. Both cost Farm Cash, so I can understand completely if you want to pass on them, but I will say the Haunted Market itself does look rather cool and detailed.
Decorations
Monster Gnome - 15 Farm Cash
Spooky Swamp - 5 Farm Cash
Spooky Swamp - 80,000 coins
Duck Head Stone - 10,000 coins
Yes, you read that correctly. Not one, but two items in tonight's update have been given the name "Spooky Swamp." Can we say oversight? As it stands, one is a much more detailed item and understandably goes for Farm Cash, while the other has less detail and goes for coins. Still, I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of these items received a name change before they have a chance to expire from the store. Also, one of them is marked at only have 9-10 days in the store, but whether that too is a bug / oversight remains to be seen.
Avatar Costumes
Chicken - 22 Farm Cash
Cat - 22 Farm Cash
Bunny - 22 Farm Cash
Cow - 20 Farm Cash
With these items, we see a bit of a compromise from the outrageous 45 and 50 Farm Cash prices we've seen on previously released costumes, and the somewhat budget prices of 10 Farm Cash for others. Still, I'm not sure dressing my avatar up as a Chicken is worth the price of almost three limited edition trees...
Again, these new items will be available in the game's store for the next two weeks, save for the Kermode Bear which is only with us for a week (and the aforementioned Spooky Swamp issue). Halloween will be upon us before you know it, so if you've yet to decorate your farm(s), why not start now?

FarmVille Mystery Game (10/16/11): More Halloween animals play dress-up
Last week, we brought you a sneak preview of some Halloween-themed animals that we expected would launch in FarmVille sometime in the near future (after all, they had to come out before Halloween, right?). It turns out that most of those animals are now available in the game, but with a catch: you'll have to win them in this week's Mystery Game.
To be specific, this week's game costs 20 Farm Cash to play, and while the bonus prize this week isn't another animal, you'll have a chance at the following animals in the "normal" portion of the game:
Bat Cat
Candle Deer
Candy Corn Sheep
Hunter Duck
Lobster Corgi
Space Chipmunk
If you can manage to win all six of these animals, you'll receive a free Skeleton Bridge as your bonus prize. While I know many farmers are used to this setup, if this is your first time, let me remind you that earning all six could be a very expensive undertaking, as you'll likely wind up with duplicates in the process of landing one of each. Either way, you've got an entire week to try your hand that this week's game, which will give you plenty of time to decide whether to empty your pocketbook for the Skeleton Bridge.

Which of these animals would you most want to win from this week's Mystery Game? How many Farm Cash did you end up having to spend to win all seven items?

FarmVille Sneak Peek: Giant Jack-O'-Lantern collection event coming for Halloween?
My, my is Zynga ever predictable. It looks like a third Jack-O'-Lantern collection event will be coming to FarmVille to celebrate Halloween this year, asking users to collect pieces of candy or other themed items (called "Treats") in order to trade them in for collectible items inside a new "Giant Jack-O'-Lantern."
If the menu below is anything to go by, then FarmVilleFreak has discovered that the menu will allow us to not only collect Treats to fill a meter (as we're used to), but we might also be able to purchase the prizes themselves directly from the menu, if asking for Treats is too time-consuming for your liking (this could also just be a link to purchase Treats in bulk). Either way, keep in mind that some of the text in this window is a placeholder, as we'll of course be able to redeem our Treats for themed items, and not just six different "Purple Valentine Cows." Still, this gives us something to look forward to in the long run, as we know we'll be able to interact with friends to earn as many Treats possible within the few weeks that will likely be available to do so.
As for the Treats themselves, it looks like we'll be able to collect Candy Corn, wrapped pieces of Candy and perhaps even small Jack-O'-Lanterns to fill our Giant Jack-O'-Lantern to the brim. It would be great to see a return of the Haunted House as well, giving us free Candy daily, but a new item released for the same purpose also wouldn't be an entirely bad thing.
We'll make sure to keep an eye on all of the Halloween festivities in FarmVille, and will make sure you're the first to know when this Giant Jack-O'-Lantern (or Halloween collection event in general) kicks off in the game.

Pioneer Trail Ghost Town feature coming soon [Video]
Way back in January, Pioneer Trail players (then FrontierVille) were able to take a survey detailing potential new themes for the game. One of those themes just so happened to be "Ghost Town." While it may now be October, it looks like that theme is finally coming around, and will likely comprise the greatest portion of the game's Halloween event this month. While we haven't received much official news in text, Zynga has released a preview trailer for this Ghost Town theme, which it's calling a "Mega-Feature!"
The trailer [embedded below] shows us that the Ghost Town will be more than just an item theme in the game's store; it will apparently be a location we can visit and complete tasks in. The story of Ghost Town sees the evil Mayor Witherwood placing a curse on the town, which has apparently resulted in some... unusual animals and crops being developed. There looks to be some sort of zombie corn with glowing pink eyes, a broken clock tower, Frankenstein's Monster trees, tombstones a plenty (including what looks to be an Indian Burial Ground and ghost frogs) and even floating, zombie / ghost chickens!
We're told that we'll use "your Sharpshooter, Mad Scientist and Shaman" in tasks that resemble those out on the Pioneer Trail map proper. If I'm making an educated guess, it's likely that these positions will be filled by friends, with your Sharpshooter being able to go out and hunt undead bears and other monsters to earn Hides, the mad scientist can "tackle" man-eating plants for Potions, and the Shaman will seek out ghosts and bless them for Spirits. Your own character can also complete tasks, rewarding you with Charms (from rocks, shrubs and buildings). You'll be able to use the hides, potions and spirits to help the locals in Ghost Town, with the ultimate goal being to earn enough keys to open the Mayor's Mansion and bring him to justice.
As for the Charms, you'll use those to earn special, exclusive prizes like decorations along the way. The more Charms you collect, the more prizes you'll apparently wind up with, giving you incentive to play around in Ghost Town for days and even weeks after the feature launches. Unfortunately, we just don't know when that will be.
Either way, we'll make sure to keep track of all things Ghost Town in the Pioneer Trail, and will let you know when you can embark on this spooky adventure in your own game, so keep checking back!
